Background:
Founded in 1636, the school enjoys a rural setting in the centre of the Peak District National Park and serves a wide rural catchment area. Buildings date from various stages of school development but are of architecturally consistent styling. The newest part of the buildings includes sixth form centre and a gymnasium and fitness area. Great emphasis is placed on 'mutual respect, honesty and academic achievement'. The school provides many opportunities for students to pursue their interests outside the classroom. It has a house system and there are many competitions organised throughout the year. Artsmark (2005); Sportsmark (2004). Students and staff are aware that Lady Manners School strives to attain the highest standards in work, has respect for others and develops individual talents. The school has strengths which are shaped by traditional standards and is active in creating the future.
