Background:
Newhall Community Junior School is located in an ex-mining village which has trebled in size over the last few decades. It is housed in a single-storey building on a campus which is shared by the infant school of the same name and William Allitt Secondary School. Built over 50 years ago, the school has been extended twice and facilities include a gym and assembly hall with a stage, and an information and communication technology (ICT) suite. Private tuition in the keyboard, piano and wind instruments can be arranged through the school. Football, cricket, netball, music, drama, art, badminton and gymnastics are all offered to pupils as extra-curricular activities.
