Background:
This stone-built school was founded in 1835, doubled in size 10 years later and another classroom was added in 1895. More recently, an upstairs room was built in 1997, paid for by the school's own fundraising. A traditional rural community school at the heart of the village community, it prides itself on an excellent behavioural record, good sportsmanship and achievements in music and drama. Contributions to charity come to between #500 to #800 a year.
