Background:
Eckington School is a specialist engineering college. All students study the same subjects and have equal opportunities to succeed in the school. At Eckington School, it strives for an experience that is appropriate to the students' experience of the outside world. Students are given the opportunity to experience music from a wide cultural background and are encouraged to develop skills, which will enable them to make music individually and in groups. There are varied extra-curricular activities, such as choirs, bands, keyboards lessons and guitar groups offered within the department, which allow pupils to extend their musical interests. Students will experience five areas of activity: athletic activities, dance, games, gymnastics and outdoor/adventures participating in at least four of these during each year. The school will seek to provide a balanced, broadly-based and individually appropriate curriculum in which all students, regardless of gender or creed, will be offered the widest possible range of learning experiences.
