Background:

Opened as an infant school in 1959, Eureka became a primary school in 1984. Pupils are accommodated in a purpose-bult facility housing four classrooms and one external classroom. The 'extensive' grounds contain two hard play areas, a sports field and nature area. The majority of pupils live in or around Midway, an old mining community and an area of mixed housing. A 'wide' range of extra-curricular activities are offered including netball, football, tag rugby, kwik cricket, drama and French. The school has an 'active' role in the local community and supports a number of charities each year. There is an 'active' parents' fundraising group. Pupils with special educational needs (SEN) are supported through individual education plans and those children who have statements receive support from the local education authority. The main school building has access for wheelchairs and disabled toilets.
