Background:

This small comprehensive serves the ex-mining village of Denby and the surrounding area, it is equipped with specialist equipment and IT facilities for all key curriculum areas. Liason with parents is actively encouraged, as is personal development through extra-curricular activities and community service. As well as work experience in Year 10, pupils also spend five days on a community service placement. Careers education is a priority and each pupil will complete a Career Action Plan in year 11. The school aims to 'prepare students for the future so that they are able to develop self-awareness and a sense of self-respect and the capacity to live life to the full as independent, self-motivated adults'.
