Background:
The school was opened in 1991 as a result of a re-organisation of post-primary education in northeast Derbyshire. It is a mixed comprehensive school for students from the age of 11 to 16 years. It serves a large rural area of northeast Derbyshire, which is centred on the town of Bolsover. The school's facilities include a modern, well-stocked library, a dedicated careers library, pleasant and carpeted classrooms, six well-equipped and modern science laboratories, a business studies room and three modern computer rooms with excellent facilities, well-equipped areas for construction and food technologies, a drama and dance studio, a music room, modern rooms for art and textiles, a suite of rooms for learning support, a gymnasium, a new sports hall and extensive playing fields. The school is a partner in a European Education Project, which has developed links with schools in France, Germany, Holland and Italy. The school aims at providing a stimulating learning environment in which all learners can succeed and reach their potential.
