Background:
Built at the turn of the century, Thornsett Primary is a small country school on the edge of the High Peak moorland and overlooking the Derbyshire countryside. Several extra-curricular activities are offered including recorder, choir, netball, art, environment and games. The school runs an 'active' school council which comprises two elected representatives from each class. Thornsett Primary has 'one of the oldest and most active' parent teacher associations in the country. Pupils with special educational needs (SEN) receive support in the classroom from a visitng teacher and a part-time assistant.
