Background:
This small village school stands in its own grounds in a rural setting in Quarndon, to the north of the city of Derby. It was founded in 1859 as part of the Sir John Curzon Trust and is now housed in a building which dates from 1967 with an additional classroom added in 1998. After-school games clubs include football, netball, cricket and tennis and other extra-curricular activities include board games, information technology, scripture and woodwind tuition. There are 'close and friendly' links with St Paul's Church and further links with the community. 'Well-supported' by the active PTFA and the school supports national and local charities throughout the year. The school is over-subscribed, with two applications for every place, and has received the School Achievement Award for Excellence.
