Background:

Wessington County Primary has served the local community for over 150 years. The original stone buildings are still in use with the addition of a hall, office, toilets, an extra classroom and a kitchen provided over the years since the school first opened. Alongside the regular curriculum, the school offers activities such as sport, music and country dancing. There are 'strong' community links including a parent's group which has raised many funds over the years. Each year the school contributes to the 'shoe box' appeal for children in Romania, Albania and areas of the former Yugoslavia. It is the school's mission to be 'a centre of excellence for learning where moral, spiritual and physical development is nurtured'.
