Dates back to 1565; serves village of Duffield; although pupils come from wide range of backgrounds, proportion from higher socio-economic groups is higher than national average. Over-subscribed, with 1.4 applications per place. Music, sport and other interests feature strongly in school life; clubs include badminton, drama, football, netball, computers, gymnastics, sketching, and recorders. The football, netball, and badminton groups have achieved considerable success; some pupils selected for district and county teams. All junior pupils have opportunity to learn variety of musical instruments. Facilities include computers in every class; school benefits from number of industry links in which various classes undertake projects with local companies.
