Background:

Landau Forte College was opened in 1992, it was the country's fourteenth City Technology College. It is situated on an inner-city regeneration site, the college specialises in mathematics, science and technology. Pupils compete against other schools in a wide range of sporting activities, including soccer, netball, basketball, tennis, cricket, hockey and athletics. Pupils have gained sporting honours at county, regional and national levels. The college is involved the community, providing primary education, classes for primary school children and training days for industry. There is a tradition of raising money for charity with an annual event for children in need. The college has a state of art facilities in teaching and learning, strong link with business and industry. The college is focused upon learning and achievement with strong support for the individual child. Students are encouraged to take part in a broad range of enrichment activities. The college encourage pupils to be well-qualified, capable, advanced, independent, lifelong learners and self-reliant. Landan Forte College is one of the original CTC, and opened in 1992. Students of all activities are drawn from across the City of Derby. The College pays close attention to the needs of individuals students with each being supported by a personal tutor within a vertical aged group of students (4 to 18) years. In addition to strong academic achievement the college places, great importance on the art, sport technological and enterprise activities. There is an effective student council who engage in Charitable Fund Raising Activities.
