Background:
Ridgeway Primary School was founded in 1874, and is housed in a stone-built Victorian building in the countryside. The school's catchment area includes suburbs of Sheffield to the north as well as the small village of Ridgeway itself. Wide variety of after-school clubs; successful water polo team; the school takes part in a range of inter-school competitive sports. Pupils take part in regular fundraising for national charities. Before-school care from 8am. Over-subscribed, with 2.3 applications per place. Basic Skills Quality Mark (2006); DfES achievement award (2002).
