Background:

Buxton Community School is proud to be a comprehensive school serving the communities of Buxton and the surrounding area. The school building is set in attractive grounds and combines the modern - including excellent specialist accommodation, particularly for ICT and sport - with a traditionally built administrative block. The school aims to provide pupils with the knowledge, understanding and confidence necessary to allow participation in physical exercise and sport, within the school curriculum, in extra-curricular activities and within the wider sports community. Pupils are able to participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities both at lunchtime and after school. Sixth form students are encouraged to help with extra-curricular clubs and events and the organisation and umpiring of inter-team matches. The school has been awarded a Sportsmark for its commitment to extra-curricular activities, the percentage of time in the curriculum for physical education and the quality of the physical education curriculum. The school aims to provide a calm, caring and well-ordered environment.
