Four new, purpose-built computer rooms are equipped with fast, modern computers and cutting edge interactive whiteboard technology. The school runs teams in all the major sporting activities, including football, rugby, cricket, athletics, cross-country, hockey and netball. These represent the school in area competitions, generally with considerable success. The physical education department also offers a number of sporting activities on a club basis which include netball, tennis, badminton, basketball, trampolining, gymnastics, keep-fit and sixth form recreation. Junior and senior choir, windbands, a string group and a variety of small groups meet regularly in order to practise for concerts, carol services etc. Dramatic productions of various types are staged at different times during each academic year. There are many trips and activities of all types including Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, exhibitions of art work, charity fund raising, citizenship days, activity days, gifted and talented breakfast clubs and social skills club. The school has become the first school in the East Midlands to be awarded the prestigious Leadership and Management quality mark. It has also achieved Sport England 'Sportsmark' award, 'Career Mark' award, 'Artsmark' award and 'Investor in People'. The school is a caring community in which each child matters.
