Shardlow Primary School is situated in pleasant surroundings on the A6 in Shardlow. The school is three miles from Alvaston and six and half miles from the centre of Derby. The school'serves the village of Shardlow and the hamlet of Ambaston and Great Wilne. The present building dates from 1850. It has been refurbished in recent years and provides warm, bright surroundings for the children. The school takes advantage of coaching sessions such as cricket, football and short tennis from local leisure centre experts. Music is strength of the school and is an important part of the school life. There is a performance opportunity each term. Music is also incorporated into collective worship. The school is well equipped with computers. It has an ICT suite containing a number of up to date computers and hardware. It also has two laptop computers. The school has a large school field. It has large apparatus for gymnastics, a variety of taped music for dance and a good selection of small apparatus and equipment for games. The school aims to provide a positive and secure environment for all its pupils.
