Background:
Springfield is a community primary school admitting children from the age of four to 11 years. The school was built in 1932 and has been enlarged on several occasions. There are large playing fields and two separate paved play areas. The school has its own hall, computer suite, library, resources room and eight classrooms. In 2003 the school was awarded a NAACE Mark for quality provision in ICT. Children have the opportunity to join extra-curricular activities that may take place after-school or during lunchtime. These activities may include keep fit, violin, chess, singing, crafts, guitar, football, recorder, computer, short tennis and dance. The school has a strong sporting tradition. Competitive matches against other schools are organised in the evenings. Children can also participate in educational visits in school time as part of their national curriculum studies. The school aims to foster the three S's that are Security, Significance and Success.
